The answer is Yes and No.

Why No?

If the telehandler is using its fork for operation, it is technically a telescopic forklift, therefore, it does not require LM certificate for site usage. Do understand that even a container forklift that can lift  more than 20ton does not require a LM certificate for its operation. However, there will be instances where it is required for the telehandler to have the LM certificate due to stricter requirements even when used for forklifting operations.

Why Yes?

If the telehandler is performing a lifting operation with an attachment, ie jib hook, hook crane, winch or any other  lifting attachments, it must have a LM certificate for the machine and a lifting gear (LG) certificate for the lifting attachment for any site operations in Singapore.

In summary, whether or not a certificate is required, is dependent on the actual usage of the machine. When in doubt, pls contact us for professional advice.
